Zipper issues

Sometimes zippers just fail... This fleece sweater was my favourite and I was wearing it frequently. One day, the teeth just came off.

So, I just replaced with with a new zipper. I could not find the same coloured zipper, so I had to use a black one as it could be a contrasting colour. Now I can wear this sweater again.

I bought these boots last year and wore them throughout the winter last year. Then, I had to dig them out again to wear them since it started getting cold again. I wore them, and I remembered that the left boot had a zipper that kept on falling down as I walked. I have to pull up the zipper every 10 - 15 minutes while walking, and that can get a bit annoying.

I thought about how to deal with this issue, and came up with a few different ways to deal with it. In the end, I decided to install a stopper for the zipper pull so that it stays on the top. I sewed on a small piece of nylon webbing to one side, and I put a snap on the other side. I hope this stopper with keep the zipper pull where it needs to stay while I am wearing the boots.

If you have any issues on replacing a zipper or coming up with an unusual issue like my boots, please contact me and we can think of a solution together!

A quick note:

Replacing a zipper can be a tricky business. Removing the zipper is the most time-consuming part because I have to be very careful not to damage the fabric the zipper is sewn onto. (Sometimes I have to pick the seam one by one, depending on how it's sewn.) If you want to save your money, you can remove the zipper yourself before bringing it to me, and I will be able to sew on a new zipper in less than an hour.
